1. A NLI may be reprinted on institutional stationery and provided to a prospect.
2. A coach may not hand-deliver a NLI to a prospect off-campus.
3. Except for mid-year football transfers from JC, an offer of aid for the full academic year must accompany a NLI.
4. Prospects who participate in non-NCAA sports, such as men's rowing, may sign a NLI.
5. A prospect may not sign a financial aid agreement prior to the initial signing date in the sport in the NLI program.
6. Institutions must notify a prospect in writing within five business days of his/her NLI becoming null and void or invalid.
7. If a prospect requests release from his/her National Letter of Intent, the institution must respond within 30 days or (lacking an extension granted by the NLI office) a full release will automatically occur.
8. A NLI must be signed by the prospect within 14 days of the NLI's date of issuance.
9. If a coach departs an institution, any NLIs for prospects who signed with that institution are automatically null and void.
10. An institution may remove the recruiting ban for a signed prospect without removing other NLI penalties.
11. If a prospect is declared a nonqualifier, the NLI he or she has signed remains valid.
12. A four-year transfer may sign a NLI.
13. The NLI program is a joint venture between the NCAA and CCA.
14. If a prospect is at least 21 years of age, a parent/guardian signature is not required on the NLI.
15. A NLI transmitted to an institution via fax or e-mail is considered valid.
16. If a NLI was signed by a prospect and her father on May 1, in order to be valid it must be received in the conference office no later than:

22. If a prospect is denied admission to the signing institution and chooses to enroll at a JC, the NLI remains valid.
23. A complete release from NLI penalties and requirements applies to all other NLI member institutions and may not be granted selectively.
24. If a prospect defers her admission to a term beyond the ensuing fall term, the NLI remains valid and binding.
25. If an institution desires to have an individual other than a parent or legal guardian sign a NLI, it must first seek approval from the NLI Policy and Review Committee.
26. A date and time must be indicated for each prospect and/or parent/guardian who signs a NLI.
27. Once a NLI is signed by a prospect, other institutions that are members of the NLI program must cease recruiting the prospect.
28. A NLI signee may sign a second NLI in the same signing year if his/her sport is discontinued.
29. If a mid-year football JC transfer signs a NLI but fails to graduate from JC at mid-year, the NLI becomes null and void.
30. A prospect can fulfill the provision of the NLI by:

34. A NLI may be issued prior to the initial date of a signing period, but it may not be signed until the signing period begins.
35. A prospect who receives a complete release from the signing institution may sign a NLI with another institution in the same signing year.
36. A student-athlete may appeal an institution's decision not to grant a complete release from a NLI.
37. A signed NLI is in full force and effect for a period of one year, beginning with the date the prospect signs the NLI.
38. A propsect signed a NLI to enroll at Institution X for the 2009-10 academic year, but changed his mind and did not enroll during that academic year. When may other NLI institutions begin recruiting this prospect?
