Pac-10 Handbook

Pick up the 2009-10 Pac-10 Handbook here. It is only distributed electronically. We plan to post updates during the academic year as appropriate.

The 2009-10 Pac-10 Handbook (1.3 MB, uploaded 7/29/09) includes bookmarks that allow you to jump to particular pages with a single click. After downloading your copy, print it back-to-back on your computer's printer or copier and put it in a binder. If your binder has a clear front pocket, don't forget the cover (standard or alternate).

The 2009-10 Pac-10 Handbook v1.1 includes updates through October 2009. You can download just the updated pages (2.3 MB, uploaded 11/6/09). If you keep your Pac-10 Handbook in a binder (as we do), the file with just the changed pages can be printed back-to-back on a copier or printer and you can replace them individually. You can also download the entire Handbook v1.1 (1.2 MB, uploaded 11/6/09) if you prefer.

Here are some movies that you might find helpful for training purposes. QuickTime is required.

If you have iTunes, you have QuickTime. And if you don't have iTunes, what's up with that?

Trouble getting the stream? Our QuickTime Streaming Server sends data using User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets. Firewalls designed to protect information on a network often block UDP packets. Client computers located behind a firewall that blocks UDP packets can’t receive streamed media.

If you have problems viewing media through a firewall or via a network that uses address translation, you should upgrade your client software to QuickTime 5 or later. If you still have problems, your network administrators can also set your firewall software to permit RTP and RTSP throughput.

Utilities

Some of the items that are available for download on this page have been compressed and binhexed or zipped to speed and ease their transmission through the Internet to you. To use these items, you should pick up these two free utilities first.

StuffIt Expander from Allume Systems will both decompress and debinhex the items on this page. There's a version for Macintosh, Windows, and DOS. Files that have been binhexed have a .hqx extension. If you can't open a stuffed file from the Pac-10 web site, you probably need a more recent version of StuffIt Expander.

Adobe Reader from Adobe Systems allows you to view and print some documents that you download here. Look for the Acrobat document icon next to the item and the .pdf extension in the file name. Preview, a part of Mac OS X, also works peachy. If you can't open a .pdf file from the Pac-10 web site, you probably need Adobe Reader version 5.x or later or Preview.

QuickTime is Apple's cross-platform software for creating and viewing all types of multimedia content on your Mac and Windows computer. If you have iTunes, then you have QuickTime.
